Sheldon Lavin currently serves at the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the OSI Group. He is also the President of the OSI International Foods. Additionally, he serves as the general trustee of the Rush University Medical College. Previously, Lavin served as the Director of National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
Mr. Lavin has been in the food processing industry for the last five decades. Before he joined OSI Group, he had a successful career in the investment banking industry. To this end, he ran his financial consulting company.
His career at OSI Group began in the 1970s when he was hired to oversee the transition of the company from Otto & Sons to OSI Industries. As such, he was contracted to identify ways through which the company could be financed. In the process, he had an opportunity to oversee the company develop one of its meat processing facilities.
Sheldon Lavin was awarded the Global Visionary Award in 2016 for his outstanding achievements in the corporate sector. The award recognized Lavin’s visionary and persistence qualities to achieve his objectives in life and the business world. The Global Visionary Award was designed to honour visionaries in the different sectors who have worked hard to convert their goals and visions into reality. Lavin was awarded the Global Visionary Award at the Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He was recognized for guiding the OSI Group since 1995 thus facilitating the company to operate eight facilities in India.
In addition to the individual awards that Sheldon Lavin has been awarded over the years, OSI Group under his guidance has received several awards. These awards include the safety risks and heal management awards. It has also received the environmental management awards.
To this end, the OSI Food Solutions UK received the 2016 Globe of Honor Award from the British Safety Council. This prestigious was in recognition of OSI Group’s environmental risk management strategies.
Under the leadership of Sheldon Lavin, OSI Group has expanded significantly as evidenced by the recent international acquisitions that have enhanced the revenues of the company. As such, Lavin as the Chief Executive Officer has been lauded for excellent leadership skills.
He is responsible for managing the daily operations of the company as well as the management teams in different locations. Despite that Lavin was considered as an outsider of the food industry, he has performed exemplary. At 81 years, Lavin is still involved in the company and aims at ensuring that the enterprise continues to expand throughout the world. His vision is to ensure that OSI Group achieves the status of being the largest distributor and supplier of proteins around the world.
